Slowly Coming Back to Internet Marketing

I have had the hardest time getting motivated. I know about my lulls in attention to my hobbies, but I was hoping to stay focused. I had some interviews. I was very discouraged by today’s interview. But, today I did end up creating a squidoo lens, halloween frog costume. The whole idea of the page is to sell frog costumes to parents who want their kid to be Kermit the Frog or Prince Naveen from The Princess and the Frog. I was able to find some keywords that might work. I created two articles today for the frog website to help it move to the top. I also created three blog posts. I’m not sure what I’ll do next with it. Creating backlinks gets a little tedious and I don’t always see it translate into traffic to my squidoo lenses. I am sticking with the Halloween theme for now. It will be really nice when October gets here and people actually start purchasing Halloween costumes. Until then, I guess I just have to keep making lenses and creating links to them.

It can be difficult to get started internet marketing because you aren’t going to make sales immediately. You need to learn the ropes and determine how to direct traffic to your websites. I have struggled to stay motivated. It may not be the best thing for me because with my hobbies, I usually keep them for a couple months and then take a break from them fr a couple months. And it seems like the pattern with internet marketing is holding true. I can pump out a good number of articles, but somehow I burn out and am not quite motivated to keep going. I know the steps that I need to take, I just have a tendency to neglect them. I’m also more focused on finding a job and getting health insurance. While internet marketing can be lucrative, it does not provide health insurance.

It actually does make a difference. No one signs up for your free course when you quit promoting it and go on vacation. Ugh! But, no work, no reward. I actually created a squidoo link today to promote back to school supplies for 2010. I found a great website on commission junction that I was able to add to it as well as some amazon products. I need to start promoting the site so that people will find it. It seems like back to school is going to be a really popular marketing search term, so I need to come up with some more of them. Visit the site if you are shopping for back to school supplies. The unbeatable sales link is pretty interesting too. I may need to see if there is anything that I actually need there.

I’m slowly but surely getting back into internet marketing. It is really frustrating sometimes. I feel like I struggle to get my Squidoo lenses to google’s first page. I have a few on the first page of Google, but others are way down on the fourth page and I’ve got links going to them and articles about them. Today, I was able to get my pages bookmarked. Most of my squidoo lenses are bookmarked now. I actually have a lot of Halloween ones already. I feel like I need to focus on promoting them rather than creating more of them. No one will look at them when they are on page four.

In an attempt to create some more links to my lenses, I’m going to tell you about the glow in the dark bra and glow in the dark body paint. The lens is the same. Glow in the dark fangs seemed like something fun to promote.

I created two new Squidoo lenses today and linked them to a couple blogs and created articles for them! The lenses are mask clown and Halloween clown. I had to do a little bit of research today to help me identify the keywords that were high volume and low competition. I also had to put together these two lenses and start driving traffic to them by linking them on my blogs, etc. So far, one person has clicked on them! I’m guessing that it was the editor from ezine articles, but I’m getting back on track. My spirits are lifting and I’m getting back into the groove of internet marketing! It feels good.

Too Disappointed to do Marketing today.

This is a really lame post. I am posting today because it is a good habit to be in. However, I didn’t get the job that I interviewed for this week and that was pretty depressing. I obsessed over it today. Luckily, I know that they made their decision today, and since I didn’t get called, that means they hired someone else. It is probably all for the best. But, I didn’t do any internet marketing. I also didn’t do any work on my internet course. I was just too depressed. Back to square one.

Losing Motivation!

I have been job hunting and neglecting my internet marketing. I created a whole bunch of Squidoo lenses for Halloween, but let’s face it, I won’t even start getting Halloween traffic until October! That is months away. The good thing about that is that there is plenty of time to create backlinks to my websites. The downside is that I don’t receive much traffic to my sites yet. Yesterday, I was so worried about whether or not I wanted a teaching job that I wasn’t motivated enough to create any squidoo sites or articles. I have a lot planned for today as well. It is my last day of teaching swimming, so I have extra paperwork to complete as well as my grant class, which I should have done yesterday, but I went to see my nephews.
I just need to start getting back into the habit of creating and then I will regain my motivation!

Creating More Squidoo lenses

I’m getting better at my squidoo lenses. I discovered different ways to display the amazon products and have been locating keyword phrases to promote the websites. I have been writing blog posts and having linkvana post them. I only have the linkvana subscription for three more days. I do not think that I will be renewing it as my blogs have yet to receive a substantial amount of traffic. I am grateful for the traffic that they have received and the links that it has created. However, I do like to be able to check the status of my articles. I can’t check the status of my blog comments and posts or how much traffic is being generated to them.

It seems like you rank better with your squidoo lens when your traffic to it increases. The only way to get better at creating Squidoo lenses is to keep making them. I made three of them today based on the Halloween theme. It was very easy and I figured out how to feature products differently than simply one at a time. I got the thumbnail thing going on.
I did use some blogposting with linkvana this morning. I am disappointed that I have not maximized my posting with them, but I feel like I’m running out of things to say about the products and websites. Luckily, I did spend about an hour writing posts. I have been relatively pleased with the service, but it seems a little bit too pricey to continue past the fourteen day trial. I’m not sure if this blog has received much more traffic from the linkvana posts. My squidoo lenses haven’t really increased the amount of traffic. I think just the lenses getting viewed by people approving the link is the only reason that some of my lenses are getting traffic. I also realize that some of the lenses are seasonal. People aren’t looking for Halloween gear just yet.

Linkvana provides exposure

I wrote so many posts yesterday for linkvana. I have about 23 squidoo lenses that are live and I found it a lot easier to write 100-200 word posts and get my link out there than to submit to the article directory 300-500 word articles that followed their guidelines. I’m not convinced that it is worth the money though. I received in my inbox another, cheaper service that I may try out. We’ll see. I have not noticed any difference in visits to my squidoo lenses. That is pretty much what I wanted to see, so that is disappointing. I’m not sure if the reason for that is that they lenses aren’t that great or there are competing lenses. I think I need to look into that a little bit further.
I did do a longer post for linkvana that I found was picked up by a blog and put in my comments section. That was nice. I twittered my seasonal marketing ideas for Halloween and someone posted that on Topsy. So, the efforts to get my blog and my websites noticed are coming around. It does take time, effort and research. Not to mention, dedication and committment.
